성경 전체를 관통하는 핵심 주제를 중심으로 구약과 신약의 유기적 관계를 증명하는 탁월한 저서들을 발표해온 미국의 신약학자 다. 달라스 신학교에서 신학 석사(1976)를, 케임브리지 대학교에서 철학 박사(1981)를 받았으며, 고든콘웰 신학교와 휘튼 대학교 에서 가르쳤다. 현재는 웨스트민스터 신학교의 신약학교수로 있다. 대표적인 저술로는 The Book of Revelation: A Commentary on the Greek Text(NIGTC, 1999, 새물결플러스 출간 예정), D. A. 카슨과 함께 엮은 A Commentary on the New Testament Use of the Old Testament(2007), We Become What We Worship: A Biblical Theology of Idolatry(2008, 새물결플러스 출간 예 정), 『신약성경신학』(A New Testament Biblical Theology), 『신약의 구약사용 핸드북』(Handbook on the New Testament Use of the OldTestament, 이상 부흥과 개혁사 역간) 등이 있다.
