WBC 베드로전서 주석서의 저자인 램지 마이클스는 프린스턴 대학교에서 역사학을 공부한 후에, 신약학을 전공으로 웨스트민스터 신학대학원에서석사 과정과 하버드대학교에서 박사과정을 마쳤다. Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary(1958-1984)와 Southwest Missouri State University(1984-1995) 에서 교수를 역임한 후에 1996년부터 현재까지 Fuller Theological Seminary 와 Bangor Theological Seminary 등에서 명예교수 와 초빙교수로 신약학을 가르치고 있다. 저서로는 Servant and Son-Jesus in Parable and Gospel(John Knox Press, 1981), John(New International Biblical Commentary 4, Hendrickson, 1989), Interpreting the Book of Revelation(Grand Rapids: Baker, 1992), Revelation(The IVP New Testament Commenary Series, InterVarsity Press, 1997) 등이 있고, 그 외에도 150 여편의 논문과 서평을 썼다.
