미국 켄터키 주 루이스빌에 위치한 Southern Baptist Theological Seminary의 신약학 교수로서, 예수님의 교훈과 공관복음 문제에 대해 다수의 연구서를 집필해 왔다. 대표 저서로는 『An Introduction to the Parables of Jesus』, 『The Method and Message of Jesus’ Teachings』, 『Gospels and Tradition: Studies on Redaction Criticism of the Synoptic Gospels』, 『The Synoptic Problem: An Introduction』이 있다.
