피터 J. 라잇하르트는 미국 웨스트민스터신학교(M.A., Th.M)과 영국 캠브리지대학교(Ph.D)에서 신학과 문학을 공부했다. 미국 애틀랜타의 「간산아메리칸 비전」(American Vision)의 편집자와 주필로 일했다. 현재는 미국의 뉴세인트앤드루스대학 대학원 교수며, 성경적·의례적·문화적 연구를 위한 삼위일체연구소(Trinity Institute)의 소장 겸 교수이다. 지은 책으로는 『주린 자는 복 이 있나니 Blessed are the Hungry』(SFC), 『새로운 관점의 구약성경 읽기 A House for My Name』,『하나님 나라와 능력 The Kingdom and the Power』(이상, CLC), 그 외 Deep Exegesis, Defending Constantine, Against Christianity, Between Babel and Beast: America and Empire in Biblical Perspective 등이 있다
