현재 칼빈 기독교 예배연구소의 소장(director of the Calvin Institute of Christian Worship) 이고 칼빈 대학교(Calvin University)와 칼빈신학대학원(Calvin Theological Seminary)의 음악과 예배 교수이다. 기독교 예배의 역사와 신학, 예배에서의 음악과 예술, 예배 갱신과 교회의 역할 등에 대한 다양한 주제들을 연구하고 가르친다. 대표적인 저서들 가운데 본서와 함께, Worship Seeking Understanding: Windows into Christian Practice(Baker Academic) Psalms for All Seasons(Faith Alive/Baker) 등이 있다
